Getting into biathlon

Scoutmaster here. The boys want to attend the ibu event that is happening in the US soon, but none of us know anything about the sport.

What can we do to get familiar with the sport so that when we go, we can have a great time? I guess read the rules together first probably...

My suggestion would be to watch a couple of the IBU WORLD CUP biathlon videos on YouTube from the 2020/2021 season. There are some English language versions that will help with understanding what is going on. Reading the rules will help but the races are exciting. PM me with your email included and maybe I can point you at some representative videos.
