About to mount a red dot ....

on my Buckmark Trailside. Would it be best to center the number of clicks for W and E and shoot from that point or just mount and shoot blindly?

i would buy a laser that has a probe that goes down the barrel and dial the red dot till they coincide. That gets you real close...

I just mount and shoot with a rest.

Get it real close with 4 or 5 shots max.

final adjustment of last two or three clicks takes a lot more rounds, couple of ten shot targets at least.
