I would like to attach Gehmann 590 rear sight to AR-15. Is there any adapters to get it done? What is sight line height from rail top of that 590 sight?

I had to look up what a 590 was. So we're talking about an adjustable rear sight designed for an 11mm dovetail.

Are we talking about an AR-15 with a Picatinny base ("Flattop") or a carry handle?

If you're talking about a Picatinny base, the only things I've seen short of custom machining come from the airsoft community:

Been toying with the idea of mounting a Picatinny or Weaver base and these adapters to use with an Anschutz rear sight on a Savage MkII. I haven't tried it yet so I can't say how well the adapters hold up to recoil.

While there are adapters to go the other way, I don't know of any adapters that will go from Weaver/Picatinny to 11mm dovetail. The ones from Amazon that were linked in the previous post are most likely a 3/8" dovetail, which your sight will have trouble clamping. Assuming that you ARE talking about a flattop AR, several options exist for a sight that will mount directly on your flattop with no adapter. Centra makes one that I know of (http://www.champchoice.com/store/Main.a ... y&c=OPSICE), and I believe that Warner and Phoenix, among others, make offerings in that section as well.

Yes, flattop AR. Those Centra AR-15 Flattop Rear Sights look little too strange. I think one option is to modify some picatinny riser or QD-mount. Strange that there is something you can´t buy to AR.

mtncwru, good call. They're flat on top, not the rounded profile on an Anschutz receiver.

You could possibly modify a Picatinny riser. This guy made his own combined Picatinny & 11mm mount for his Savage. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/sh ... ostcount=5

Why are you so set on this sight? Can it handle and survive centerfire recoil? What are you trying to do? Shoot High Power?

Most NRA High Power shooters either have a Phoenix top mount or Centra sight (as mentioned) mounted to their Picatinny rail or have a Picatinny to Redfield (Lipski, Warner, Tubb, is there another?**) mount with a Warner, PNW or Phoenix side mount sight.

Standard 3/8" scope blocks mounted on a Picatinny Rail - 11mm Dovetail Adapter. Works perfectly. ;)

Using these inexpensive adapters, it would be a small matter to mount any diopter made for an 11mm rail at the rear and an older globe made for a 3/8 scope block in the front. Riser blocks might be required to get the sight heights correct. Plus with a plain barrel as I show on the match rifle below, a ladder front sight like the Phoenix in the link would also work.
