Easyjet refuse Airrifle shooters for not having license...

3 EFTA Team England shooters including current World Champion refused travel from London Standsted to Bilbao yesterday because they did not have licenses for their rifles which you cannot get licenses for because they don't need one.
These are target shooters representing England in an internationally recognised event.
What has changed, 5 trips with same people, airline and same destination for the past 5 years with no problems.
Will it be #noteasyjet or #easyjet for the future?

This is just plain ignorance or just down right un helpful. Look for another airline. Will any Commonwealth shooters be flying to Glasgow using Easyjet.

I'm pleased to say this seems to have a positive resolution. Thanks to all the help and guidance of the BASC, and the AMTA, the EFTA has been able to get this statement from Easyjet.
Unfortunately easyJet's carriage of firearms policy was applied incorrectly on this occasion and so we would like to apologise to the passengers affected.
We do not ask for the production of a licence, we simply ask for the owners to be able to prove legal ownership. We are aware that air rifles do not require owners to hold a licence but will now relook at the wording of our policy to ensure this is clearer and this error does not occur again.
We do ask for passengers to notify us in advance of travel which did not happen on this occasion and this is always preferable as any issues can be discussed before the flight.
The EFTA has asked for more clarification on what constitutes "proof of ownership", to which we have been told we should have a reply within a week.

Proof of ownership? Since when does an airline work for Scotland Yard?

That is an interesting point. You don't need that for an FAC firearm, or anything else for that matter.

In the US if you travel to another country you need a Certificate of Registration for Personal Effects Taken Abroad in order to get your items back into the US. I have been asked to provide ownership of my firearms in a foreign country. I showed the document and had no issues.
