What model BSA do you have? Can you tell whether any of the parts in the action are broken?

It is a Mark 4 ISU rifle. I don't think anything is broken because once in a while it ejects but I really have to push the lever hard.

If it's the ejector spring, these are apparently available from John Knibbs at airgunspares.com (UK), but it sounds as if it's something else if it ejects occasionally. Knibbs also sells the ejector claw.

I'd look very closely at the ejector pivot area to make certain there nothing stuck in the mechanism. I assume you have given that area a good flushing with some kind of aerosol cleaner. Check the spring closely for any obstructions.

Does the ejector make a nice "snap" when you cycle the action out of the receiver? And, is there any play between the pivot pin and the ejector.
