What is the difference between a "sport rifle" and a "free rifle"?
I did some target shooting when I was younger and now I want to get into ISSF shooting. I see two general types of competition rifles advertised "sport" and "free." What is the difference? I'm planning to get involved with 50m prone to start. Which should I get and as a beginner how much ought I to spend.

Sport rifle has a max weight of 6.5kg and Free rifle is 8kg max.

Sport rifle is the new version of the old Standard rifle which the women shot.

They changed the rules some years ago so they could use the same type of rifles as the men but they restricted the weight.
