Cadets and Teams Advancing to the JROTC Service Air Rifle Champion­ships Announced - CAMP PERRY, OHIO - Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force JROTC rifle teams kicked off their 2009-2010 competition year as they competed in the 2009-2010 JROTC Air Rifle Postal Competitions. For the past seven year, the Civilian Marksmanship Program has overseen the scoring of JROTC 3x10 three-position air rifle postal competitions. These an­nual postal matches determine which JROTC unit teams and individual cadets advance to compete in their respective service’s JROTC shoulder-to-shoulder Championship.

2010 GSM Master Instructor Workshops Announced. Experienced rifle marksmanship instructors and shooters who would like to receive advanced training and be certified as “Master Instructors” to teach CMP-sanctioned Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle or Rimfire Sporter Clinics are invited to apply to attend a CMP Master Instructor Train­ing Workshop. The GSM Master Instructor Workshops are:



23-24 January - Camp Perry, OH - This class is FULL

10-11 April - Anniston, AL

7 May - Camp Butner, NC (Prior to the start of the Eastern Games)

11-12 September - Camp Perry, OH

15 October - Phoenix, AZ (Prior to the start of the Western Games)

Kowa Spotting Scopes. CMP has made a special purchase of a lim­ited number of KOWA TS-501-20X spotting scopes, specifically designed for Rimfire and Air Rifle usage. These scopes are available for CMP Affili­ated clubs for $250.00 plus S&H and are available at both CMP stores and on the estore https://estore.odcmp.com. See item 832 under the Equipment & Accessories tab.



Holiday Schedule Reminder. CMP stores at Camp Perry, OH and Anniston, AL will be closed 18 Dec-5 Jan for the holiday period, annual in­ventory and general housekeeping chores.



USAMU to host Pairs Pistol Camp. The U.S. Army Marksman­ship Unit Service Pistol Team will host a Pairs Conventional Pistol shooting camp at Fort Benning, Georgia, on March 10-12. The focus of the camp will be for beginner and intermediate pistol shooters of all ages as well as for coaches. There is no cost to attend the camp; however, junior campers must be accompanied by an adult participant, and any adult attendee must bring a junior to the camp. Instruction for the event will be provided by the national award-winning shooters of the USAMU Service Pistol Team at Phil­lips Range. An NRA Conventional 2700 Pistol Match will be held on March 13, and participants are encouraged to stay and test their skills. USAMU to host Rifle Level 1 Coaches Course. The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit will host a Level 1 Rifle Coaches Course on 6-7 February. The cost of the course will be $100.00. Classes start at 8 a.m. each morning and conclude at 4 p.m. Each participant will be awarded a Level 1 Coach Certification upon successful completion of the course. The National Rifle Association, Civilian Marksmanship Program, and USA Shooting co-sponsor the Coaches Programs. Each participant must provide their own lodging and meals. JMIC Class Schedule for Indiana. A JROTC Marksmanship In­structor Course (JMIC) will be held on Saturday, 13 March at Emmerich Manual High School, Indianapolis, Indiana. 2010 U.S. Army Junior Open Air Rifle Championship Entry. The U.S. Army Open Junior Air Rifle National Championship will take place 21-24 March 2010 at Fort Benning, GA. A link to the event and online registration is now posted on the CMP homepage or visit http://www.odcmp.com/3P/ArmyJrOpen.htm. The deadline for registration is 2 January and the deadline for returned targets is 22 January. Targets will be scored at CMP North Headquarters and results will be final on 8 February. The competition is open to both sporter and precision classes and will have both team and individual categories. Make sure to visit the CMP website and register as soon as possible.



2010 Camp Perry Open, Camp Perry, Port Clinton, OH. The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you to participate in the fourth annual Camp Perry Open. This year's match will include a three-position air rifle competition, an international air rifle (all standing) event, a pistol course of fire, and optional clinics at Camp Perry, Ohio.
