2009 National Matches Air Gun Events. If you are going to shoot in the National Matches at Camp Perry this summer, bring your air pistol or air rifle and also compete in the National Matches Air Gun Events. Even if you are not a National Matches competitor, you can still come to Camp Perry to shoot the air gun matches. The new CMP Camp Perry Marksmanship Training Center featuring an 80-firing point air gun range with electronic targets will be open from 13 July through 13 August with schedules adjusted according to the phase of shooting (be sure to check the detailed schedule). During the smallbore and highpower matches, the air gun range will be open in the evenings. The National Matches Air Gun Events offer a 30-shot air pistol reentry match, a 30-shot air rifle reentry match and a 20-shot sporter air rifle reentry match that shooters may fire as many times as they wish. There will also be an experimental Novice Prone 20-shot reentry match for juniors who are 12 and under and are just getting started. The program features 60-shot air pistol, air rifle and National Match Air Rifle championships matches that can be fired one time only. Be sure to check the official program to see which matches are available on different dates. The Official Program for the National Matches Air Gun Events is posted on the CMP website at http://www.odcmp.com/NM/AirEvents.htm.

A detailed schedule for the daily hours when the air gun range will be open is posted at http://www.odcmp.com/NM/CPMC_RangeSchedule.pdf.

You can enter the 2009 National Matches Air Pistol Matches in advance on-line at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchInf ... tchID=4717.

With your name already in the match, all you have to do is go to the air gun range when it is open, pay your entry fees for that day and start shooting. Plaques, Achievement Medals, Achievement Pins and cash prizes will be presented for top scores and for best center shots in the reentry matches. Last year 425 different individuals fired National Matches Air Gun Events nearly 700 times. Those numbers promise to grow this year so don’t forget to bring your air guns to Camp Perry to be part of this new National Matches opportunity.
