Walther KSP200 slide hold-open device

Hello everyone,
I'm interested to find out what experiences others have had with the slide hold-open device on Walther KSP200's. I know of two that have flown off into the grass somewhere with the owners having to resort to pushing a plastic slab (lid off an eley box) in front of the slide to keep it open on the bench. Has anyone come up with a nice remedial solution to the problem?
Was there only ever a pushbutton device mounted to a slide available or did walther have other methods?
