radius of balance blocks

Post by Kevin6Q »

Hello All,
I am interested in building some balance blocks but have no idea of a recommended radius to put onto them. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks, Kevin

Hmmm maybe about 18-20 inches or so. They have a gentle radius, somewhat like a rocking chair. At least that's what our club received from someone who built them from instructions (in the "Way of the Rifle" book?).

Cut 4X4's acouple of inches longer than your feet.and using belt sander just round off the [your choice] bottom. Dont worry too much about being exact as they will work as long as you have a decent curve . Good Shooting Bill Horton

Thanks for the insight. A tighter radius will be more tippy so I was hoping to start in the basic range of difficulty. Aside from the carnival aspect, is there any added/noticable benefit from blocks with lower stability?
