Parker, Sanderson Remain in the Lead

FT. BENNING, Ga. (May 18, 2008) – After two days of Men’s 3-Position and Men’s Rapid Fire competition at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Shooting (Smallbore), Jason Parker (Omaha, Neb.) continues to hold first place in Men’s 3-Position Rifle, while Keith Sanderson (San Antonio, Texas) remains on top in Rapid Fire Pistol.



Two-time Olympian and U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) member Jason Parker (Omaha, Neb.) remains in first place after the second day of the Men’s 3-Position Rifle event with a total score of 2546.6. USAMU member Hank Gray (Belgrade, Mont.) jumped into second place with 2526.5 points. Two-time Olympian and 2004 silver medalist in Men’s 3-Position, Mike Anti (Winterville, S.C.), a member of the USAMU, is in third place with 2524.3. USAMU members Michael McPhail (Darlington, Wis.) and 1996 Olympian Eric Uptagrafft (Spokane, Wash.) are in fourth and fifth places with total scores of 2517.3 and 2517.1 respectively.



In Men’s Rapid Fire Pistol, Keith Sanderson (San Antonio, Texas), the 2007 World Cup Munich bronze medalist and Olympic quota slot winner, is in first place again today with 1545.2 points. USAMU member John Ennis (Simi Valley, Calif.) moved up into second place today with a total score of 1534.6. John Bickar (Canton, Ohio) continues to hold third place with 1533.6 points. Five-time Olympian John McNally (Heath, Texas) is in fourth place with 1526.6 and USAMU member Brad Balsley (Uniontown, Pa.) is close behind in the fifth spot with 1525.2. James Ruiz (Dublin, Calif.), also a member of the USAMU, is in sixth place with 1506.6.



The 2008 U.S. Olympic Team members for Men’s 3-Position Rifle and Men’s Rapid Fire Pistol will be determined on Monday.
