Spring Piston match airgun lubricants

Post by big52 »

Was wondering if anyone here has ever did their own service on a spring piston match airgun? I have a Anschutz 250 that I had to take apart and was wondering what type of lubricants can be used in this gun. If anyone can give some advice it would be appreaciated as I don't want to send the gun to somebody and have them work on it.

Lubs

Post by randy1952 »

I would try and use a non-petroleum based lubricant such as TWB 25B by Milcomm. There are other non-petroleum based lubs, but TWB 25B has worked out the best for me. It's a little on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way. I used small sampler package given to me at a Shot Show about five years ago and I just finished it this year.

Take a look at Air Rifle Headquarters (Maccari). He has a selection of lubes that might be what you need.

I use the white FWB grease and Maccari's 'clear tar' - http://www.airguns.citymax.com/page/page/251484.htm
