Manufacturing dates of Anschutz rifles

Post by wbthomas »

I have some Anschutz rifles and would like to know when they were built. Is there a website with serial numbers matching year of manufacture?

Most Anschutz Rifles have a date code on the barrel (if it hasn't been changed).

Also if you look in an Anschutz manual in the section where they list trigger types they list a serial number range and date range for the various models.

Since 1960, or thereabout, Anschutz have included among the proof marks on the barrel a date code for the year of proof.

From c. 1960 to c. 1976 the last two digits of the year were used. so a 1970 rifle will have 70 stamped on the barrel.

Since about 1976 a letter code has been used to indicate the last two digits of the year of proof. A=0, B=1, C=2, D=3, E=4, F=5, G=6, H=7, I=8, K=9. J is not used.
