Toz 49 Reloading 7.62x26

Post by JamesH »

Does anyone out there have experience of reloading for the Toz 49?

How about a source for a good die set?

Any information appreciated.

I had one about 15 years ago. It came with a box of Russian factory ammo which I fired off and then converted it to fire .32S&W Long. This involves stepping the barrel back 2mm, shortening the cylinder by the same amount then sleeving the chambers to suit the .32 case. An involved process but when done make it easy to feed.

Anyway, as for reloading I have heard that you can use a .30M1 Carbine sizing die and a standard .32 seating die. I have not seen it done, only been told about it so it could be lies!

The other option for you would be to contact Potter Firearms in Brisbane Australia www.potifre.com.au as this pistol is (was) quite popular in Australia and many Aussies reloaded for it. They might have dies or at least will know where to get them from. I understand that there were cases for them being made in Aus too but not sure if that is still the case.

I'd second the suggestion to contact my brother Rob through http://www.potfire.com.au

Lots of Aussie shooters used the Toz 49 over the years, as well as the 36. Don't know if it's still the case but you could buy 3-die sets in Simplex Master (standard 7/8x14 thread). Master is important, because Super Simplex was a 5/8 thread for their own press. They only made non-tungsten sizers, so you need to use case lube. Bertram Bullets in Victoria made brass, and I'm sure it's still available.
