HP 32 S&W long reciol spring length

Post by PFribley »

Hello Emil and Vladimir,

My older HP came with a new recoil spring and buffer when I purchased it. I installed the new buffer. The new recoli spring is much longer than the old one. Do you know the proper length??? It is way longer than the guide rod. Thanks.

Sincerely yours,

Greetings,

The HP springs I have measure 120mm long.

Not sure if they are for the HP New or older HP, or both.

Better check with PardiniUSA to be sure.

Cheers,

Dave

I have a fairly early HP; Pardini told me their spare parts kit works with it. From that I would assume the spring has not changed.

Picture of my new spring next to my 4000 shot used one. New 120mm, wide angle lens very close make it look slightly longer.

A used compression coil spring will usually be somewhat shorter than a new one.

This is the case and will be the reason for different lengths. Just install it and use.

+1

You have a NEW spring that's longer than the OLD spring.
Just replace it.
The NEW one has the length and strenght the older one has lost with time and use...
If springs didn't loose their streght and length over time you wouldn't needed a replacement, right?

Hope this helps

I do not understand the question. The two springs are the same. One has been used and has lost some of its length, this is normal for an older spring. I expect it to get even shorter the more it is used. The other spring is an unused new spring.
I have 3 different Italian 32 pistols. I think they make the springs out of cheese. My MG4 springs only lasted 5000 rounds. All 3 pistols recoil springs seem to have a short life span. Put the new spring in your 32 and use it.

What I meant was. Does it cycle properly???? I have heard other complaints about pardini springs useful life.

Yes it does, the used shorter one is in the 32 and I was unaware how long it was until I took it out and compared it to a new one. I will continue to use it until I think It is time to change it. Most probably before it gets to 10000 rounds.

You will probably not have any problems if you never change it.

Most cycling problems arise from springs with too much compression force rather than not enough and the length of a new spring will shorten almost immediately after you install it anyway.

When I originally started the spring replacement process I was amazed at the different length of springs. The new one was so much longer then the old one. Yet the old one cycled the pistol properly. I thought this can't work. Then I thought maybe you trim to a tuned length and that was why the new one was so much longer. Anyway the new longer one is in there. I haven't shot the pistol yet. During this process I also found out that the firing pin spring was toast. Also got a new one there. Thanks for all the advise.
