CMP hardball .45 Scope Mount Question

Post by Orion »

I used an Ultra Dot for the first time the other day and now Im
hooked.

I have a Les Bear Hardball that Id like to mount a scope rail to.

Could this make my LB Hardball ineligible for CMP Service Pistol
matches, if I mounted a scope rail on top of the frame? Ive searched
online and cant find any regulations regarding scope rails on service
pistols.

Id like to use the same pistol for CMP Service Pistol matches and for
NRA approved 2700 matches and would like to avoid spending another
$1850+ on another.

Also, if anyone has a great condition Ultra Dot for sale, let me know.
My 22 needs one!

Short answer, YES. See Rule 6.4.1(3) of the CMP Rules-

6.4 General Pistol Rules
The following general rules apply to all pistols that are used in CMP sanctioned
matches.
6.4.1 General Pistol Requirements
All pistols must comply with the following specifi c requirements:
(1) Standard stock of wood or synthetic material or a similar stock of commercial manufacture that retains the “as-issued” profile and that does not interfere with the functional or maintenance features of the pistol. Metal grips and Pachmayr-style wrap-around grips are not permitted. The stock must be functionally identical for right or left-hand use.
(2) The trigger pull must be at least 4 pounds. Open sights only with a nonadjustable front sight. The rear sight may be adjustable and must have an open “U” or rectangular notch.
(3) No external alterations, additions or changes to the confi gurations or appearance of the pistol may be made unless those specific alterations,
additions or changes are explicitly permitted by these rules.

Not sure what you vision is like but I would shoot irons for everyting until you are distingushed like I do and then when you are distingushed you can reward yourself and pick up a wad gun and then you will have your ball gun as a backup for a 2700.

I was talking to Mel Makin this weekend and he told me if he could still see iron sights he would not use a scope/dot and would still use iron sights.

Bottom line shoot irons until you have trouble seeing them and then switch.

I believe shooters could stay with irons longer if it were easier to adjust sight post and notch widths, and depths. Also be able to adjust lighting in the prevalent indoor and under cover outdoor ranges. And have a good Rx lens.

!
No, it would not make your LB Hardball inelegible if you removed the rail before the EIC match.

Rule 6.5.2 Permitted Pistol Features
(5) Holes, filled or unfilled, that are drilled in the slide to facilitate optical sight mounting are not considered external alterations and are permitted.
