From my research of the current market the Kimber 82 Government rifles fetch anywhere from $600 to $1200 based on condition and what's included. Because these rifles are essentially "one offs" (he made less than 10) I think they're pretty unique. I purchased the rifle about a year ago for $1200 shipped and that's how much he sold them out for originally.
As I haven't shot the rifle (and don't intend to) I can't comment specifically on if it's right for you, or anyone for that matter. But based on how it feels when I shoulder it, I'd consider it an excellent starter rifle for a 3P shooter. It's certainly not feather light but for a junior shooter, I think it'd be a worthy consideration.
The Kimber 82Gs, themselves, are in no way to be considered the same category as a top tier target rifle like a Walther, Anschutz or FWB. These are not match grade barrels with featherlight triggers.
But as I have an older 82G from CMP, the rifle has been a reliable workhorse, that shoots plenty fine for my off-hand ability and my son and I have enjoyed it using it.
Hope that helps!
