Should an Emoticon Panel be added to the Message area?

Post by Mako »

Most Message boards include an Emoticon Selection Panel near the New Message and Reply message box ... so that one can quickly and easily select an appropriate icon expressing ones feelings ... to be added to ones message. This can help prevent misunderstandings that can arise when one is writing quickly or in a potentially provocative manor ... like this ... :-)

That typo smiley would turn into a proper smiley icon ...

It's called communication ... something that can always be improved upon ... :-)

You forgot to add one more option:
"I don't care" :-|
Or something like this. You can build a sentence better than me ;-)

Emoticons R Us

Post by Roly »

Hi Mako
I voted against the emoticons, can't see the need for them in a well structured sentence.
But I hate stupid people ;^( that can't write good and stuff %*) so maybe we should have them &^) because otherwise we'll flame each other and stuff :^} and that is really stupider. &^)))
They tend to get a little over used though.

Good job on the website![/b]

Hey, how'd that get there?

Where'd that {b} come from at the end of my post?
If you keep having these glitches I'm going to get really p.o.'d. :^)

The [/b] comes up when you try to upset the originator of the Poll ... or if you accidentally hit the Close Tags Option above the message entry area ... no, I'm not going to add one of those stupid P.O'ed icons !

I would much rather confuse folks. Many don't get it anyway.

I thought the last time we discussed this we agreed men don't have emotions.

But that's so not 21st Century ... oh, but we're old 20th Century geezers ...

You realise that if Emoticons were permitted, then Rover wouldn't need to use any words...he could just use the middle finger and grumpy emoticons...that's all he would need!! ,,!,, ;((

I don't need emoticons for me to properly express myself---beware those who would pick on Rover---he's my bud! "Doc"
