New scam techniques-2 step process

yesterday I received this PM:

I thought it was a helpful shooter on this site like usual. I sent an email for info and received this along with pictures of a pristine pistol from Jeff Johnson:

the case with papers,grips are marked L Large. Find attached files. I
am looking to get

And why would a guy named Johnson have an email address "donezfamily?"

I am not commenting on this particular case but would point out:-

1) There are a great many forum members who have never posted; I know several personally. Neither fact makes them untrustworthy.

2) The strange nature of some members' email addresses is only matched by the strange nature of their log-in name ;-)

This is what would make me rethink dealing with this person "Western Union or Money gram." I don't think so.

First, the person in question is not me!
But the name Jeff Johnson is very common so trying to get an email address that even remotely looks like jeffjohnson@ is difficult unless one grabs that address early. I know as I have to use my spouses last name and now everyone thinks I changed my surname because it's on my email. FYI

I've had this tried on me on this site.

To be honest, because of the way the true members on this site conduct themselves, it was obvious to me that it was a scam.

A quick Google of that email address reveals that we are not alone. That email address, and even the PM syntax, has been used on several gun forums and flagged as a scammer.

I did contacted they guy with through an email and I received his message:Hi,

Yes i have a Benelli MP 90 S World Cup Target Pistol, .32 S&W
Wadcutter. Find attached files. It rates at about 99+% condition. It
is in .32 S&W wadcutter caliber, (.32 S&W Long). This gun is in
tremendous condition. It includes all of it's original paperwork and
hard case as well.

After a few clicks online I did realized all the pics I received from him and even another Benelli mp 90 22lr he pretend to have have been used for an auction listed in gunaction.com back in April 2010. He want me to send money through money gram at a person name Ann ahlert in Palestine, Texas. Beware people.
