Pellets for Gamo compact?

Post by Jonny.M »

Soon I'll get my first target pistol, a used Gamo compact. I'm a little confused about the pellets there's so many options. I'm only going to shoot paper targets so I just need the most accurate pellets. My budget is 10£ I think something from Rws,H&N or JSB would be good but there's so many variants..

I would just get a good basic flathead pellet to start with. RWS Geco is a really good choice, and very cheap. I certainly wouldn't spend any more for pellets to use in a Gamo Compact.

The lighter the pellet the better it will cut the target.

Before being finicky on which pellet is the most accurate, first moly lube the trigger sear surfaces, find a softer trigger springer, and a longer trigger screw. These modifications are necessary if you want to increase the accuracy potential of your pistol.

Most of the economy wadcutter pellets from the European pellet manufacturers should perform very well in the Compact.

I prefer RWS and H&N. Gamo’s Pro Match pellets are also accurate in my gun, so you may want to try them. They might be cheaper than the Geco’s on your side of the pond.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I just ordered RWS GECO BASIC and RWS meisterkugeln pistol. BASIC DIABOLO was more expensive than meisterkugeln so I chose meisterkugeln instead. I paid 4.5€ for geco and 6€ for the meisterkugeln.

The first thing I will do when I get my compact is polish, lube the trigger mechanism and change the adjustment screw to a longer one. I'll see if I can find a weaker spring.

They don't ship to Finland. Are the diabolo basics better than meisterkugeln light?

Can I suggest that you should add your location to your profile.

It doesn't always work, but normally makes replies more relevant.

The Meisterkugeln are "premium" and the Basics are "economy" class pellets.

However, it does not necessarily mean that the more expensive pellets will outshoot the cheaper pellets in a particular gun.
