RWS Meisterkuglen Coating Question

Post by Andre »

I've been shooting RWS yellow for years, however within the last year or so I've noticed a few of the tins in a sleeve are coated a darker grey, almost like R10's.

I haven't noticed any difference in accuracy.

Does anybody have any info on this?

I'll take a wild guess and say that there is less tin added in the alloy mix, that is why the pellets may have a darker grey appearance. If there is no difference in accuracy and the pellets aren't staining your fingers, you shouldn't worry.

They do stain my fingertips a little more than usual, but I'm not worrying just wondering why the change.

I bet they have found a cheaper product to lube the projectile. They would say "improved"...which equates generally to cost savings

Nowadays, any company that can skip a step or two in manufacturing a product without sacrificing quality will save a considerable amount of money in the long run…

You may have gotten an old batch. They haven't changed the tins.

The old ones were darker with stuff that came off on your hands. They could have been in the back of a warehouse for years.
