Who was the near champion 84 year old shooter?

Post by Cumbrian »

I wonder if one of our American friends can supply the name of the 84 year old, who, I am told, led a US Championship for 3 days, only to drop back on the fourth. This would have been some years back. He must be some shooter, especially as I am also told that he had given up shooting for 20 years previously. I hope the report is true as it gives encouragement to me at least - next stop 70 and a novice to the sport six or seven years ago.

You are talking about Joe Farmer and he is 86 years old. Shooting wise he is one of the best.

In the 2015 NRA Conventional Prone Championship Joe Farmer was in the lead after 3 of 4 days (was the only person to go clean on day 3) and ended up finishing 3rd overall.

Thank you all for the name and further information. I certainly take my hat off to Joe Farmer, as many others must have done already.
