UN Arms Treaty - Does It affect us?

Post by fc60 »

Greetings,

Does the soon to be implemented UN Arms Treaty affect us target shooters?

My concern is, will I be able to purchase magazines and repair parts from outside the USA?

Will I be able to ship parts from the USA to those who need them outside the USA?

i.e. I find someone in, say, Germany that has an FAS603 magazine, will I be able to receive it in the USA?

With kind regards,

David

Only if the scumbag-in-charge goes along with it. If it will screw the US, he will.

Until a treaty is ratified by the Senate, its value as a binding document is equal to the paper it is printed on.

Of course it will. Those who agree to it can ban the sale, import, or export of any arm they want. Or anyting they want to call an arm.

It is only binding on those countries that have signed the treaty, but you can imagine the financial presure that will be used to bring non-signatories into the agreement.

It is my understanding it only applies to military type weapons.

Right now we are not allowed to ship gun parts to European countries.

Obama has already banned the importation of some weapons, without the treaty.

Again, the senate has to ratify the treaty before Obama can sign it.

Not much chance with the new senate.

In some countries, that means anything that fires a caliber that is or was ever used by the military. 9mm, 45acp, 308, 7.62-anything, 38 special, etc. Very limiting.
