Model 52 bushing

I just noticed that someone on the B-S-T forum is looking for a Model 52 barrel bushing. I had an extra, but recently sold it to a poor soul who was desperate to get his 52 back on line. I was thinking about making one (or more) - I work in a machine shop and can sometimes get machine time for "government work" - but I don't know what steel I should start with and whether it needs to be heat treated. Does anyone out there know?
