One more TOZ 35 query

Post by TomF »

I got an older TOZ in a wooden case with spare parts.

Do the new TOZ 35 come with all this stuff?

How do I know when mine was made? Does the SN give any info?

THanks all!

Yes: a locking wooden box, cleaning tools, 2 screwdrivers & 2 pin punches, an oil bottle and a spare parts package of alternate front & rear sight elements (all pretty crude by Hammerli/Morini standards,) a firing pin & firing pin spring and a couple of flat springs.
The first two digits of the serial number are the year of manufacture, but.... My own bought new this year is an '89 by the stamped serial number but there is a year 2000 date written as date manufactured in the "acceptance certificate" page of the handbook. I think this means the pieces were made & barrel proof-tested as part of a large production run in 1989 but then warehoused until finished as a complete gun, range-tested and packaged for the market in 2000.

Mine says 88 but the person I bought it from said he bought it new two years ago. So what you said probably is correct. I cleaned it and it still had a bunch of the brown russian grease on the internal parts since the previous owner had not given it a good cleaning because he had only shot a couple of hundred rounds with it before putting it in his safe.
