screws for front sight

Post by Eaglecrossing »

Dear daughter stripped the screw of her front sight for her feinwerkbau (screw that tightens sight to rail/barrel). Where can I get new ones (plan to have extras now)? Local hardware store did not have them. Anyone know the "name" or size so I can call around?

Hi,

here you can find some exploded drawings from most the FWB rifles including spare parts lists.

Not sure about the local representatives of FWB in the States but you can ask FWB in Germany direct for that screw. Normal they do a good service job.

Allen or hexagon socket head cap screw ISO 4762 or DIN 912 M3x20mm and the Allen wrench size is 2.5mm.

Are you sure only the screw is stripped? The sight housing/clamp is aluminum and the screw is steel, so more than likely the threaded hole in the sight is buggered up, too. If this is the case, you can either modify it and use a screw with larger threads or try and repair the female threads with a Helicoil.

Best of luck,
Andre

EDIT: Here is the Helicoil repair kit, http://www.amazon.com/Helicoil-Thread-R ... B00IOEETLA Drill the stripped hole out using the drill bit (make sure drill is straight), tap the hole out with the included tap, insert Helicoil, break helicoil tang, then you should be all set. Instructions most likely included in the kit.
