I would like to upgrade the trigger on the MKII, any suggestions? I looked at the VQ kits, would just changing the hammer, or both sear and hammer?

Is there any other kits out there?

Just the Vol. sear put in makes a decent trigger. But the best is a rework of the factory parts by someone like Roddy Toyota.

I have done triggers on my MKII and my MKIII. Fantastic results. I did the sear and new trigger along with a exact edge extractor from Volguartsen. I have used their hammer, but I do not think it is something you will notice. Their trigger just felt better than the stock one to me. I bought from rimfiresports because of free shipping.
Go th the guntalk forum as this guy has step by step instructions on how to do this.

The best trigger job I have ever felt on any .22 pistol was on a Ruger Mark II done by Clark Custom. That was many years ago, so I don't know if they do Ruger triggers as good as then, but it would be worth a try. I like their steel trigger.

I think my favorite mod is the installation of a Clark trigger, and a Clark oversize hammer pin & bushing. The trigger seemed to have less lateral play, and has an easy to adjust over travel screw (as well as a nice shape). The hammer bushing & pin seemed to make the trigger pull more consistent (the original pin wasn't very parallel, and would walk out a bit and change the pull weight a bit).

These went a long way towards improving the feel of the trigger on the gun.

I agree with tenex with the addition of the vol sear. This combination gave the best/closest drop in trigger pull compared to three clark rugers I had access to.

I've done a few Mark II's now using the Clark trigger and hammer pin / bushing, and the Volquartsen sear. Trigger pull is fairly crisp with a hint of roll (the way I like it) and right at 2 lbs - a perfect Bullseye trigger.

My preference is the same as a number of previous posters for the mark 11. Send it to Clark, be patient and you shoud be well pleased with the results. He [and his crew] get it right the first time they work on the ruger triggers. Good Shooting Bill Horton
