Well, to answer the question- "what benefit would a 2013 in Precise Stock give me over a 1907 in Walnust stock..." (sic) Numerous I'm a 1907 owner. I primarily shoot prone matches but I shoot a small amount of 3P as well. I shoot 50 yd, 50 M, 100 yd, Mini-Palma, and an occasional club matc...

I believe Lowey Products (Australia) does make a bolt protector for the 64.

Don't store the rifle/bolt with the spring cocked.

I use a Pelican - they are very heavy and bulky - but have room for all the accessories. Well, all mine anyway.

This is not at all uncommon out of a cold clean barrel. The general rule for me is - one shot for every inch of barrel length to get the lube distributed. I tend not to clean my barrel all that often, although I clean the bolt, ramp, and chamber each session. In my experience, you will also see this...

If it's going to be your first rifle I'd suggest you stay away from semi-auto center fires all together. I'd also suggest you start with a .22 rim fire bolt action. You should easily be able to find a used Anschutz 64 type in that price range. Many other rifles come to mind as well, but an Anschutz ...

You can also find aluminum blocks at most of the air rifle places, made by BKL. I used a set of these on my old 64. http://www.pyramydair.com/search-results-ext?Ntt=riser&sid=1375A617A415&N=0&Ntk=primary&q=riser&cx=002970863286801882398:jlcminxfwdw&cof=FORID:11;NB:1&saSea...

I've heard of people using dry wall plastic plugs that are used to anchor screws into a drywall. I think the yellow ones are the right size. I've used these as well. It is the yellow ones you want. They're very inexpensive and work well. I've also used the red nylon (?) dummy rounds and they work w...

The 1000 yd. mini-Palma X ring is 19 mm, at 100 yards. About the same angular size as the 50 M ISSF. Although the black on the mini-Palma is a few mm larger, it's out at 100 yds and looks a LOT smaller. Increased wind problems and ammunition dispersion make the mini-Palma a bit tougher, IMO. I do li...

We hold two 200 yd Schuetzen matches for .22 RF a year. I'd consider that long range for a .22. For center fire I'd call 800, 900, and 1000 yds long range. Ranges in between those two I'd call intermediate ranges. Some of our members go to 1500 yd matches, which are far beyond my abilities. I doubt ...

Any standard velocity (or lower) ammunition should work. After you become more familiar and settle down with the rifle you might want to consider batch testing different brands/types for best accuracy. I like to see all my hits in the 10 ring at whatever distance I'm shooting. If it won't hold the t...

You really can't go wrong with either. As stated it all comes down to fit - how it fits YOU. I haven't shot either (Ans 1907 here), but a few have commented on the KK being a tad front heavy, and a few state the KK has better hardware than the 2700 - personal preference to be sure. I'm a bit over 6 ...

I'm not really clear by what you mean by "drills". To learn to shoot in the wind you must first ... shoot in the wind. How many times have you seen shooters at the range pack up when the wind picks up? That's no way to learn. Get/make yourself a set of wind flags. Learn how to read them- l...

Your entire hand or just your ring and pinky? It's hard to say without seeing the position, but if it's just the 2 fingers it's most likely the elbow position and Ulnar nerve pressure. If it's the entire hand it might be the stop location or the hand location under the rail. If you're rolling your e...

Ah, to be 30 again! No, you are not too old to begin, and continue, for many years. I'm 64, and I consider myself a "serious" shooter. Am I competitive? Not so much, although I placed third in a 100 yard mini-palma last weekend, a personal best. My club will be shooting another postal matc...

batch testing

As an adjunct to a Caldwell type rest you might consider making or buying a flat plate that attaches to the rail. Front bags are available for many rests that are designed to fit a flat fore end such as found on benchrest rifles. I made mine from a 1/4" aluminum plate with a simple tapped block...

Just my thoughts. You have to test, period. Otherwise you will always have nagging doubts about where the fault lies. I feel that practice ammo should hold the ten ring, no matter what the cost. Once a shooter passes about 570 prone, you need to be confident that your rifle/ammo will hold the 10. I ...

Hmmm. I have a Winchester 52D, and H&R 5200, and an Anschutz. Out of a rest they will all hold the X-ring, I however cannot. I know shooters (personally) that have put Lilja barrels on their 52Ds and H&R 5200s. They all saw an improvement. I have heard of shooters fitting their Ans with Lilj...

Yes, compared to 50 feet (~17 yards), and yes, 50 yds and 100 yds. Again, just a guess. I referenced everything to a 17 yard sight in distance.

Sorry for the vague answer, I knew what I meant though. :-)
