Re: Cheap Clip-On Blinder for Prescription Glasses

Art at shootingsight.com got back with me. For the benefit of others in the same predicament, I include his letter to me. Richard, Thanks for contacting us. I think we can fix it for you, but it is not just the simple flip lens, you also need to get new glasses. Lens power determines where your foca...

Re: Cheap Clip-On Blinder for Prescription Glasses

That is great information. I am already in contact with shootingsite.com trying to determine the strength I need and if they have a return policy in case the first one isn't right. I only shoot outdoors with varying degrees of sunlight, but never directly on the target, usually shaded somewhat. Than...

Re: Cheap Clip-On Blinder for Prescription Glasses

Astigmatism. At 69 years old, everything is just a hair out of focus without glasses, although I only use them for reading and shooting. Maybe I do have a problem here. I use the prescription glasses to shoot with, and use the clip-on as a blinder so I can flip it up out of the way for everything bu...

Re: Cheap Clip-On Blinder for Prescription Glasses

I stand corrected. But it seems you would have a PITA to get the tape goop off of your lens each time.

Re: Cheap Clip-On Blinder for Prescription Glasses

Guess what. No one clips reading glasses over prescription glasses, and no one would put scotch tape on their prescription lens.

Cheap Clip-On Blinder for Prescription Glasses

Right now in the reading glasses section right outside the pharmacy, Walmart has clear clip-on's for sale for $8. Just pop off the lens you don't need (bend away from the frame, not towards) then put a translucent material over the other lens. I tried toilet paper, Kleenex and paper towels, but they...

Re: Where are You Aiming Nowadays?

Thank you guys, your advice is going to go a long way to improving my situation. And I'm still sifting through older threads to soak up every bit of knowledge I can get. I never did shoulder-specific exercises before, thinking push ups would cover it, but after doing a couple of sets as you suggeste...

Re: Where are You Aiming Nowadays?

Thanks for that suggestion PirateJohn. I am hitting the elliptical 3x/week, stretching regularly, and about 150 pushups/week.

Re: Where are You Aiming Nowadays?

Thank you for confirming that PirateJohn, and thank you Gwhite for breaking it down and giving me hope that if I can maintain sight alignment my scores should dramatically improve. Your analysis clearly shows what's going on, and I downloaded your shot analysis chart. Right now, I'm stuck in the mid...

Re: Where are You Aiming Nowadays?

Gwhite, I'm not that good of a shot, so I want to go back to square one and learn it correctly. I've searched the forum and found all of the excellent advice you gave someone earlier, copied it, and will study it (they should be made into a sticky, or better yet, you have nearly enough for an excell...

Re: Where are You Aiming Nowadays?

Oh, I agree completely with everything you guys are saying. I hope you understand that I'm just trying to put a little levity into our sport, where sometimes you run into people who really are chasing "perfection" to the point of being unsocial, or worse, not having fun. I really wish we h...

Re: Where are You Aiming Nowadays?

And that is what is so funny about it. We spend a lot of time tuning the trigger so that the first stage travel is juuuuuuust right, the break is icicle clean, the second stage is perfect with... ooops... too much creep, start over, then the trigger angle has to perfect to our finger, then the reach...

That repair place is in India. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

No need for further comment, I've decided to pass on the Morinin now that i remember why I don't like them anyway.

Where are You Aiming Nowadays?

What a weird game. Our whole intent is to hit the 10 ring as much as possible, but it seems the majority of us aren't even aiming at what we want to hit! I used to aim dead-on at the bull, with my sights cutting the black circle in half. Then I read that sub-six gives a better sight picture and less...

Is a Broken Morini 162e Worth It?

I have a friend who left the battery in his pistol while stored, and corrosion ate the electronic board. He doesn't want to go through the hassle of finding someone to fix it or pay for a new board which he says is around $400. Would it be worth fooling with if he would sell it as is for around $200...

Poll: How Often Do You Clean Your Barrel?

On your competition Olympic 10 Meter pistol, how often do you clean the barrel? 1. Before every round of a match. 2. Before every match. 3. Only when I notice accuracy decreasing. 4. Never. 5. Other. Bonus question: How many shots do you have to fire on average to get the barrel shooting accurately ...

National Championships and rankings in anything are difficult to achieve, and I hope they both get the laurels and recognition...

Re: best $15 I spent on shooting in a long time

Based entirely on the OP's review, I bought some. I have vitreal detachments in both eyes which are normally a little red always. Plopped in 1 drop each eye, waited 1 minute, and WOW! My eyes were as white as and looked like hard boiled eggs. No red whatsoever. I haven't noticed any improvement in v...

Re: Please explain this air pistol silhouette to me.

The links nglitz gave you have the correct distances, but what you've encountered is folks who made up their own rules, probably to accommodate their surroundings, because they got bored, or because they found the real distances too easy with scopes that are allowed to be braced against their bodies...
