Re: Heads Up On RWS Basic Pellets (USA)

Our collegiate pistol team doesn’t shoot nearly as much as yours and our numbers are dwindling. Our source of cheap practice pellets dried up and so we went to find something else. We acquired different brands of tins at $6 or less and tested them for weight consistency, head diameter consistency an...

I can't help you with a specific recommendation but many take Dr. Norman Wong's article with them to help their optometrist of choice.

Re: Best pistol for CMP EIC .22 match

Don Nygord's advice to me when I asked the question "what gun to get?" was to get a Ruger (MKII at the time). Years, and many guns later, when I finally bought one I wished that I had taken that advice. Two months ago I shot a match with a distinguished former Olympian. He beat me shooting...

Re: Fas6004 vs IZH 46m

Stick with the 747 until you can afford a high end pistol. The 747 is an excellent starter pistol for learning the fundamentals. As others have noted it is capable of good scores. All of our collegiate shooters start with the 747 and, once they have achieved a certain level of performance earn the r...

Re: air pistol for timed, rapid fire practice?

The best training I did for bullseye was single shot air pistol. (I have an LP5 but only train single shot) The best training I did for 10 meter air pistol was bullseye. Here's some advice that came from a shooter with several years on you who still manages to out shoot a young-buck like me: 'First ...

Re: Safety Rules for SSP in a Match

My sequence was to keep the pistol pointed at the target, turn my palm up (right handed for me), bend my elbow while lowering my arm (keeping the pistol pointed down range and trigger finger on frame) until my forearm (between wrist and elbow) was braced against my hip. The leaver is operated by the...

Re: Steer LP50 trigger won't reset.

Bill, I don't feel qualified enough to answer this question but since no one else has offered anything I'll give you my opinion. The only time my LP5 (CO2) doesn't reset is about 10 shots before I run out of gas. Before that happens the single shot magazine fails to extend completely after firing. I...

It's not the arrow, it's the indian.

FWIW, I shoot 480's in the Free pistol event with either my Hammerli FP or my Unique (Standard).

Shoot the pistol you are confident with.

My thoughts on . . .

PRICE: $800 for a DES/VO is great deal for a 99% collector's piece. If it's for shooting that price is a little steep. (I'll leave the decision up to you; after all, I paid $900 for my DES 69 and I do not regret it) PARTS: Do a search on this board for UNIQUE and there will be several threads discus...

I use muffs with the highest NRR number that I can find. Becaue my ears produce a lot of wax I don't use plugs. I've had too many ear infections caused by blocking the flow.

Personal experience with the IZH 35

My example of this pistol exhibited doubleing and sometimes trippling right from the box. No matter what cleaning was done the pistol continued with the problems. No-one locally was able to fix it and I eventually sold it to someone who sent it out of state for repairs. It has since changed hands ag...

Continuiing on with this subject . . .

The NRA rules only state the the ctg has to be .22 cal non-magnum rimfire. So short, long or long rifle meet the rule. Some local leagues have adopted a "NRA type" format whereas they drop the more stringent rules in order to get greater turnout. Grips and trigger weight are the ones that...
