Re: which point the additional counterweight be added?

I would definitely agree with what 'dude mentioned above. Look seriously into adding weight at the back of the stock (A). Since air rifles do not have hook buttplates, they tend to benefit by having additional weight in the back of the stock. Bear in mind that where you put the weight will impact ho...

Re: How to obtain such a curve in air rifle 10m??

I can't say I ever made it to that level when I use to shoot competitive smallbore and air rifle. However, I can tell you something that worked for me, and what works for the shooters I have coached over the years. If you look at many top level athletes in standing, they spend a good amount of time ...

Re: Boot Recommendations?

My top choices would be either a pair of Sauer boots or the Kurt Thune boots. I recently saw a pair of the Kustermann boots; I am sure they will be good as well. The sauer boots are extremely popular; most of the kids on my team use them. I would give Robert Oberlie a call if you are not sure; he wi...

Re: Stock differences: 2313 vs. 2018 ???

For reference, I used a 1907 in the precise stock for years. My opinion on each (and for those of you with more experience please feel free to chime in). Functionally, both have a similar range of adjustments; however they do have a very different feel to each other. The 2313 stock has a far better ...

Re: ISSF New Competition Formats

You have got to be kidding me. I did not agree with the first change in the finals format (when we went away from the old ten shot final); but the new format had plenty of merits, as it has been fun to watch, and I love the three position final. I just got done reading the rules. It makes just about...

Re: blinder for 30mm scope

For our juniors with iron sights, we usually cut plastic blinders from 2 gallon milk jugs and fix it to their iris. You want translucent plastic as was stated above because it allows some light to still pass to your non-dominant eye. Personally I use a sweatband or a backwards hat (sweat band works ...

Re: Spirit Levels - Slip On Vs. Screw In

The screw in spirit levels are great once you get them set. I wouldn't describe them as easy, but light years ahead of the slip on ones which are just terrible in every respect. One of the girls on my team purchased the Anschutz one; it was fairly easy for me to set it (I just had her hold the gun u...

Re: Air Rifle Balance Question

I have a couple of comments on this; as I spent quite a bit of time re-balancing my air rifle as well as experimenting with others on our shooting team. I found two areas of success; right above the support hand (as was recommended above) and/or back weight. I do not like muzzle heavy air rifles, si...

Hammerli AR-20, decent starting air rifle?

Does anyone have any experience with the Hammerli AR-20? Our team may be in a position to acquire a few of these, and I want to know if anyone has an experience with them, as far as whether or not they are accurate and reliable. I am not worried about their balance; my understanding is that they com...

Re: Another NCAA rifle program ends

I shot on that team from 2011-2015. To add insult to injury, two kids from Washington State (one from my team) were one of the six freshman that Nevada added to their ranks last year. I do not buy for a second the AD's quote that they cut the team due to the fact that rifle was not a Mountain West s...

Re: Air gun club in Seattle

-Are you looking for air rifle or air pistol? There is a junior team that meets at the West Seattle Range (the range indicated by the above author). I am not sure what they have as far as adult leagues go. PM me if you have any questions; I might be able to point you in the right direction (I coach ...

Re: Geko and SK "Match" .22 Ammo

I happen to love SK standard plus; it shot well for me and it shoots well for the kids on my team. As far as Geko is concerned; three of our shooters use Geko, and our best shot loves the Geko match. I have seen great groups from both.

Re: Prone position rightwards recoil

Okay, I have some thoughts. I would actually start by looking at your left elbow; I am very careful about how I set mine up each time and if my recoil continues to go up and right, I will slide my elbow to the right (assuming you are a right handed shooter). This will place my elbow "more under...

Any smallbore shooting teams in the Dallas area?

I have a shooter on my team who may be relocating to Dallas,TX. Are there any smallbore teams in the area? If there are, I would appreciate their contact info. Thanks so much.

Wind flags, ISSF compliant

I have a question for the assembled masses. Does anyone have any experience making windflags that meet the international rulebook? Currently the range I shoot at (and most ranges that we shoot at ) use oversized tent stakes (or something you might find staked in your garden) with streamer tape. I am...

Re: Valuing a left hand 2013 with original stock & sights

Since no one has replied I will start the conversation. I need to know what kind of 2013 it is? Is it one of the older supermatch wooden thumbhole stocks, or is it aluminum (ether the older 2313 cast aluminum stock, or the precise?). A 2013 should go for at least $3000; the newer ones run anywhere f...

Re: school me on bloop tubes

For many years, I was a firm believer against them. I felt that most people used them since "all of the good shooters used them" (I am oversimplifying this). I stayed away from them (as I had been advised), as I felt that they were a tool that people put on their rifle in hopes that they w...

Re: Slings - anyone have opinions on Thume ATL?

I used a Kurt Thune ATL in college for about a year and a half; I really liked it. Before I had a Kurt Thune Model 2, no issues with it. The Sauer sling with the adjustable wheel is also quite nice. I would advise against the MEC sling. When it works, it is great. However, the attachment point is fi...
