Re: Shipping PCP Air Pistols

Shipment by USPS has gotten more complicated. USPS reissued Publication 52, Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable Mail, on 20 July 2020. The portion related to firearms was clearly written by someone who had little clue about firearms and it makes one's head hurt to read it. A North-South Skirmish A...

Re: Shooting Term

I assume that you are asking about tie breaking techniques. Creadmore was the original NRA range on Long Island, NY, where the system was developed in the U.S. if you had two or more people tied, then the one with the highest number of X's won, then highest number of 10's, then highest number of 9's...

Re: Anschutz Super Match 54

I am left handed. I have an Anschutz 1413 I purchased from Al Freeland in 1966 that originally had a left hand stock and right hand bolt. I also have an Anschutz standard rifle that I purchased in the early 1970s that originally had a left hand stock and right hand bolt. Both were converted to a lef...

Re: Winchester 52 Olympic stock?

It's been a long time since I visited Freeland's shop in the late 1960s, but my recollection is that he was making the international style stock for the 52E for Winchester, and while Al's international style stock was better than the American style stock on the 52D it wasn't up to par with Anschutz'...

Only a few states issue them, generally for state National Guard or police matches. Look at footnotes 15 - 17 in the Wiki article.

Sparky, Look at the APO information on the USPS web site, not a service manual. With regard to Dubai, as part of the United Arab Emirates, the USPS "International Mail Manual" states that the Emirates forbid the importation of "firearms, ammunition, and their components". It woul...

The US Postal Service (USPS) forbids the shipment of "firearms" to APO addresses. Yes, I know that air arms are not covered by the National Firearms Act/1968 Gun Control Act. The USPS may not agree, so you would need to ask them. Secondly, packages addressed to APO addresses are subject to...

This is probably not what you would like to hear, but: I'm 63, legally blind for driving purposes without my glasses in most U.S. states, and profoundly astigmatic in my master (shooting) eye. But, I have the Distinguished Rifleman and Distinguished Pistol Shot bages, President's Hundred Tabs with s...

Marvelshooter, My Marvel Precision conversion is very ammunition sensitive. It doesn't like Federal Gold Medal Match (frequent jams), for example, which both of my High Standard Victors love. Where did you get the 8# spring? Marvel Precision lists only 9# and 10# springs on their web site. Thanks, Don

This is a re-post of a post that I made here in 2008. There is scientific research, including blind studies, regarding the utility of beta-blockers in shooting: Back when the U.S. NRA actually published research on shooting, they produced the following book: Landers, Daniel M. (ed), and Hunt, Karen ...

LesleyQ The current (?) Hammerli air pistol is the AP40. The valving is compatible with the 480K. If you have the replacement done, you will need AP40 air cylinders, because the 480K cylinders will no longer fit the new valve. I don't know if your floor pump will work, since I use a scuba bottle. I ...

I would like to thank you all for your advice. I bought this pistol as a back-up for a TOZ-35 I bought previously from CDNN. So, I was aware of the short stroking problem. The stock was, however, interfering with being able to move the lever fully forward. This had not been immediately clear to me. ...

MEC has their own German language book on Olympic pistol shooting. It is not by Antal and Skanaker. When I asked them about it in January, they indicated that an English language translation was still a work in progress.

Problem with TOZ 35 Free Pistol

I recently purchased a used TOZ 35 free pistol that had been imported into the U.S. by CDNN. When I "cock/tension" the main spring by moving the "sliding lever" forward, the striker comes forward when I return the "sliding lever" rearward to the closed position about 95...

In asking the NRA to reprint the Yur'Yev book, you assume that the NRA really has much interest in competitive shooting these days, other than paying lip service to it. The following is a very small sampling of the types of articles which used to appear in the American Rifleman and American Marksman...

I had a Hammerli 480K with removable air cylinder. After about three years, the valving in it died, and I returned it to Larry Carter at Larry's Guns for repair. After several failed repair attempts, Larry replaced the 480K valving with AP40 valving. Consequently, the AP40 valving might be a solutio...
